An Indian family of nine in the Indian Sangli district of Maharashtra committed suicide. They all killed themselves by ingesting poison.
Drama in India, in the Sangli district of Maharashtra: nine members of the same family allegedly committed suicide with poison because, it seems, they were overburdened by debt. From a 15-year-old girl, the youngest, to an old woman of 72. They are all dead, only two cats survive, as reported by the Indian Express. According to what was reconstructed by the Indian authorities, the family was the victim of “repeated and public harassment” by the loan sharks who had lent the money.
Of the nine victims, the youngest was 15 years old
The bodies were found in two separate houses that belonged to two brothers of the family in the Sangli district of Maharashtra. The victims are Popat Yallapa Vanmore, 52, and Dr. Manik Yallapa Vanmore, 49. The other seven bodies were identified as Sangeeta Popat Vanmore, 48, Archana Popat Vanmore, 30, Shubham Popat Vanmore, 28, Rekha Manik Vanmore, 45, Aditya Manik Vanmore, 15, Anita Manik Vanmore, 28 and Akkatai Vanmore, 72.
15 people arrested: they had lent money to the family
The police investigations are underway, the bodies will be subjected to autopsy in the next few hours. And in the meantime, the first ones are also reported arrests: identified 15 people guilty of lending money to the family. But that’s not all: the authorities are on the trail of 10 other people, again for the same crime. A family friend explained to the Indian Express: “I grew up in their home. Everyone was very thoughtful, they considered me one of them. Less than a week ago I came to their house for a party. It was a happy family, they loved animals. But I also know that for the past few years they have been under stress from debt. But we would never have imagined this epilogue “.
