(ANSA) – PALERMO, 02 SEPT – From tomorrow the excursions on Stromboli start again: for tourist activities it is a breath of relief, in consideration of the fact that hiking is one of the main sources of the island’s economy. The restart, after the suspension, due to the damage caused by the violent storm to the old path, will be possible thanks to a new path, created, in record time, by the Forestry and the mountain and volcanological guides of the island, thanks to the donation of a land by a citizen.
The new path, which will allow you to reach an altitude of 400, connects to a part (the passable one) of via Salvatore Di Losa (ex Labronzo). After the inspection carried out by the geologist Domenico Russo, as a member of the Municipal Civil Protection Office, as well as by the mayor himself, the green light to use the new path has arrived, with the contextual new ordinance which, maintaining unchanged the limits imposed, prior to 12 August, on the excursion activity, it incorporates the variations to the paths. Satisfied the mayor Riccardo Gullo; “We begin, as promised in the immediacy of the flood, to give concrete answers to the population. The realization of the path, which will allow the resumption of excursions, is synonymous with rebirth and lymph for the socio-economic life of the island”. Up to an altitude of 290 meters above sea level, it will be possible to make excursions without the help of authorized guides. From 291 up to 400 meters, access is allowed only if accompanied by guides. Over 400, access is allowed only to scientific and civil protection personnel, for their own institutional tasks. (HANDLE).
