Today, Friday 2 September, the weekend of the San Marino GP kicks off, the fourteenth round of the 2022 MotoGP World Championship. On the Misano track the three classes will run in search of the best set-up in view of tomorrow’s qualifying and Sunday races.
In MotoGP the dances are resumed after that in Austria Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) he took home his third consecutive success, after victories in Assen (Netherlands) and Silverstone (Great Britain). For Pecco, competing on this circuit always has a particular meaning because it is one of those that the Piedmontese has been able to face several times with great quality. And then he runs in Italy, in front of the home crowd, and the all-Italian combination is keen to do particularly well.
In fact, however, it is the French who command the ranks of the general ranking Fabio Quartararo. The transalpine was very good at limiting the damage to Spielberg, finishing second and immediately behind Bagnaia. In this way the advantage of the Diablo against the ducatista is 44 lengths. However, Quartararo will also have to take into account the prospects of another driver, that is Aleix Espargaró. The Spaniard from Aprilia, despite being handicapped by a heel injury, wants to do well on the bike from Noale, as he is second in the general classification (-32 points).
MotoGP, Francesco Bagnaia: “I still have to recover a lot of points in Quartararo, Sunday will be a battle”
A ransom is also expected from Enea Bastianini who, fresh from the bitter retirement of Spielberg where he had conquered the pole-position and fresh from the signing of the Ducati Factory Team, has a great desire to do well on a track that he particularly likes, remembering the first podium in MotoGP right on this circuit.
