(ANSA) – PRAGUE, 01 SEPT – The Czech government led by Prime Minister Petr Fiala will have to face a motion of no confidence in Parliament today. Attempting to discourage the coalition of four parties (Civic Democrats, Top 09, Pirates, Mayors and Independents) is the opposition, formed by the populist movement Ano, of former premier Andrej Babis, and by the right-wing extremists Libertà e Democrazia Diretta ( Spd) by Tomio Okamura. The motion was mainly provoked by the case that broke out on the links between the new director of the civil intelligence agency (Uzsi), Petr Mlejnek and Michal Redl, a businessman accused of corruption. After several weeks of pressure, Mlejnek resigned yesterday. However, the opposition is not enough: on the table there is a request for a step back also by the Minister of the Interior, Vit Rakusan. According to Babis, another reason for expressing mistrust is that the Fiala government is not properly addressing the difficult economic situation. To bring down the government, at least 101 MPs out of the 200 total would have to vote in favor of mistrust. The opposition Ano and SPD has 92 votes, while the ruling coalition has 108.
