The two defendants accused of the murder of Albert Luke Valentinethe 38-year-old from Catanzaro lido, killed on the evening of 11 July 2019 in Petilia Policastro with a 9 caliber pistol shot to the right cheekbone.
Yesterday, the judge for the preliminary hearings of Catanzaro, accepting the request of the prosecutor of the DDA, Pasquale Mandolfinohe indicted Dominic Bruno51 years of Petilia Policastro, believed to be the perpetrator of the assassination, e Pierluigi Ierardi, 31-year-old Petilino, who has to answer for complicity with the alleged killer. Both are accused of complicity in murder aggravated by premeditation and the ‘Ndrangheta method, as well as illegal detention and carrying a weapon in a public place.
For them, the trial will begin on February 16 before the Catanzaro Assizes Court. The bloody event, as it will be recalled, took place in Cavone Grande, in the countryside of the Pagliarelle di Petilia hamlet, where the victim was later found dead by a farmer from Petilia Policastro. According to the anti-mafia prosecutor, it would have been Bruno who pulled the trigger – in the context of a “settling of accounts”, decided by the Petilina gang – with Ierardi (for whom, unlike Bruno, the investigating judge rejected the request for arrest made by the public prosecutor in charge of the file) who would have accompanied him to the scene.
