(ANSA) – NAPLES, JAN 24 – There were 436 forest fires that last year affected the regional territory in the period of maximum danger. Campania is in fifth place in Italy for the number of fires relating to green areas after Sicily, Calabria, Lazio and Puglia. The data emerged from the meeting to take stock of the fire campaign that took place this morning at the regional headquarters of the Civil Protection, in Naples. The meeting, coordinated by the manager of the Energy and Post-Emergency Civil Protection, Claudia Campobasso, served to analyze the trend of fires which are increasingly becoming a global emergency due to climate change and rising temperatures and to start finalize the plan for 2023. All the strengths and weaknesses of the action carried out last year were also analysed.
Also present were the director of the Civil Protection School, engineer Celestino Rampino who deals with the specific training of volunteers and representatives of the Mountain Communities, the Provinces, the Fire Brigade, the Forest Carabinieri, the National and Regional Parks and the Sma.
