Fiom Cgil has sent a meeting request to the Stellantis management of Melfi to carry out the checks envisaged in the agreement of 20 July 2022. These checks are necessary in light of the many reports that the workers have addressed to the Fiom Cgil delegates. This was announced by the regional secretary Giorgia Calamita.
“The unequal rotation of the solidarity contract for some professional figures -adds Calamita- and the continuous and sudden modification of the working calendar, the demotion of some professional figures, the modification of the organization of work with changes in line based on the mix, are issues raised in recent times by male and female workers. The meeting is essential to address and solve workers’ problems and improve their working conditions and health.
We believe it is essential that a real confrontation be opened with Stellantis and with the local institutions, the regional automotive table will have to give answers to the workers on employment and salary uncertainty and on the worsening of working and living conditions. The electrical transition
ecological and digital will have to be governed with extraordinary tools in support of workers.
We will not be accomplices in a process of efficiency and cost reduction competition which, with employment blackmail – adds Calamita – is translating into the cancellation of rights, salaries and total flexibility on working hours, in addition to the massive use of solidarity and the new reorganization of working times which provides for an increase in rhythms and a reduction in the numbers positioned on the lines.
It is now essential – concludes the secretariat – to open a discussion with the Stellantis Melfi management for the confirmation of the industrial plan signed in the June 2021 agreement which confirmed the production of four new electric models in the face of the employment stability of the Melfi industrial area ” .
