There Regional Council, on the proposal of the councilor for civil protection Giacomo Giampedrone, approved the outline agreement between the Civil Protection Department and the Liguria Region regarding the list of interventions for the reduction of hydrogeological risk and alluvial proposed by the Region. l costs of the operation, estimated for 20.8 million euroswill be funded through PNRR – “Measures for the management of flood risk and for the reduction of hydrogeological risk” (Mission 2 – Component 4).

The 8 projects are the following:

This is the 2nd lot of interventions to strengthen and restore the damage to the sea ​​defense works and ofextension of the beaches through nourishments, following the historic sea storm of 29 and 30 October 2018. The total amount of the loan is 3 million euros.

The intervention involves the construction of the first part of the overall defense intervention of the town, the beaches and the productive activities of the village of Celle Ligure following the historic storm of 29 and 30 October 2018. The project aims to counteract erosion of the coast, with a structural nourishment of the three existing beaches, which will be stabilized through the construction of fixed works in natural boulders. The total budget is 4 million and 700 thousand euros.

1,140,000 euros are intended for the 2nd lot of interventions defense of the coast and of the town in Fornacithrough the stabilization of the beaches with lateral containment works and structural nourishment following the storm of 29 and 30 October 2018. The project involves the completion of the structural nourishment of the beach in Fornaci, which began with the first lot of intervention, and the reinforcement of two ceiling panels to protect and contain the nourishment itself.

600 thousand euros for a further soil defense intervention following the bad weather in October, November and December 2019, which concerns the safety of the left bank of the Vara River in the section between the Ceparana Bridge and the confluence with the Magra River. The intervention consists in the continuation of an embankment currently under construction and will be managed at the regional level, by the commissioner structure for contrasting hydrogeological instability.

  • Taggia and Riva Ligure (IM)

A funding of 5 million euros for the demolition and subsequent reconstruction of the former railway bridge, currently part of the cycle and pedestrian path of Western Liguria. The replacement of the current bridge with a single span one without piers in the riverbed has the objective of guaranteeing the full functionality of the first batch of safety measures already underway. The works will be managed directly at the regional level, by the commissioner structure for contrasting hydrogeological instability, and as mentioned, are part of a broader intervention involving the entire terminal stretch of the Argentina stream.

1.6 million euros for the settlement of the landslide in the locality of La Vesca caused by the bad weather of 2 and 3 October 2020. The intervention consists in the construction of a cliff in natural boulders placed at the foot of the slope, in correspondence with the shoreline, in order to limit the erosion caused by the waves without hindering the drainage of the groundwater.

1.5 million euros for the 3rd lot of coastal and town defense interventions, after the damage to the cliffs bordering the beaches, the access roads to the sea and the piers caused by bad weather and the storm on 29 and October 30, 2018. This third lot provides for the completion of the interventions of arrangement of a stretch of coast (with fixed works and nourishment). Specifically, the creation of a submerged septum with the aim of limiting the flow of debris and stabilizing the new beach. Furthermore, the reshaping of the cliff is planned.

Over 3.3 million euros for the construction of the first part of the overall project aimed at defending the beaches between Capo Mortola and Capo Sant’Ampelio. Specifically, a structural nourishment and fixed protection works and containment of the nourishment itself, following the storm surge and bad weather of 29 and 30 October 2018.

With the approval of the resolution of the Liguria Region Council, it certifies theinsertion in the plan relating to the “Measures for the management of flood risk and for the reduction of hydrogeological risk” (Mission 2 – Component 4) of 4 further projects with a total value of over 10 million euros, already financed with civil protection ordinances, which are thus included within the PNRR.

It’s about the work to make the mouth of the Argentina stream safe downstream of the bridge of the via Aurelia in the municipality of Taggia (7.3 million euros), the underpinning works of a stretch of embankment on the right bank of the Argentina stream between the Romanesque bridge and the former covered market in the municipality of Taggia (1 million euros), the settlement of the damaged embankment on the left bank of the Centa river between piazza Petrarca and via XXV Aprile in Albenga (1.5 million euro) and the construction and adaptation of hydraulic defense works on the right bank of the Vara river in the municipality of Follo (930 thousand euro).
