Seismic event and magnitude
The earthquake shock was registered today in the Region Sicily and affected the area of Books in the province of Messina.
The seismic event was recorded by the seismographs of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology today Monday 9 January at 07:55 with magnitude 2.5 on the Richter scale.
Hypocenter of the earthquake
According to what is learned from the INGV website, the earthquake had a depth (hypocenter) of 8 Km.
Epicenter of the earthquake
The epicenter of the earthquake was identified at the coordinates 38.0900, 14.9350 to 2 km to west of Librizzi (ME), less than ten kilometers from the municipalities of Raccuja, Montagnareale, San Piero Patti, Sant’Angelo di Brolo, Patti, Ucria, Sinagra, Ficarra, Gioiosa Marea Montalbano Elicona, Piraino.
