If we had hoped for a slowdown in price increases at least in 2023, unfortunately this will not be the case. This time the protagonists, despite themselves, are the Apple iPhones. In this round, however, it is not up to the list price, but to the cost related to out-of-warranty replacement of the battery. The price increase will affect all iPhones, with the exception of the iPhone 14: for them the cost of replacing the battery was already higher than that of the rest of the lineup.

The official announcement arrived first on Reddit and then went around the net. In the note Apple announces that the price for iPhone battery replacements will increase by $20 in the United States for models out of warranty or not covered by AppleCare+. This will raise the price of this operation from a current average of $69 to as much as $89.

This price increase will also affect the Italian market. On the Italian page dedicated to assistance there is already a statement in which Apple warns that the cost of battery replacement will increase by €24 for all iPhones prior to iPhone 14 starting in March. Starting from this date we can assume that the cost of the replacement will amount to around €99. Until now, a cost of €75 was sufficient for most models.

Certainly not good news given that replacing the battery is the most widespread practice on older devices and consequently without any type of guarantee. Despite this, in some cases, replacing the battery could still be a valid alternative to buying a new device.
