Brussels. European Union energy ministers failed to agree on the mechanism to introduce a gas price cap in the event of new price hikes, questioning their ability to approve a package of measures considered essential to put secure Europe in winter 2022-23. “We haven’t opened the champagne yet. We put it back in the fridge,” said Jozef Síkela, the minister of the Czech Republic who chaired the extraordinary Energy Council, anticipating a new extraordinary meeting on December 13.
