GoldenEye 007 was the protagonist of two announcements practically simultaneously, since the relaunch on the Nintendo Switch Online service within the Nintendo 64 catalog is also accompanied by the arrival on Xbox Game Passbut in the latter case it seems to be a new one remastered version.
As pointed out by some users, it seems that the two versions of the game do not correspond: the one on Nintendo Switch is basically the ROM of the original game for Nintendo 64, with an identification that dates back to 1997.
The version coming to Xbox Game Pass instead has a copyright that covers from 1997 to 2022 and appears to be a new one remaster specially developed for Xbox.
The GoldenEye 007 announcement trailer on Xbox does not clarify the matter, but some details emerge from the post on Xbox Wire, where screenshots are also visible that evidently show an improved version of the original. On the other hand, it has been practically for years that there has been talk of a remaster of GoldenEye 007 planned for the Xbox, but the project seems to have been blocked also due to problems with the management of the license and rights between the film and the video game.
The announcement message on Xbox Wire speaks of a game “faithfully recreated to preserve the action and excitement of the original, while also adding new modern features.” It also states that “The original experience has been updated with improved controls (including support for two analog sticks), resolution native in 16: 9 and up to 4K where supported, improved frame-rate and unlockable lenses “.CopyAMP code.
Beyond this, the gameplay and the structure of the levels should have remained intact from the original, including some cheats and the presence of multiplayer in the stands-screen. GoldenEye 007 will be launched directly in the Xbox Game Pass catalog but it will also be downloadable for free by those who own the Rare Replay collection, as it falls within the British team’s catalog of old glories.
