“We are going to attend a great tennis event that has grown in relevance and importance for years, making Genoa and Liguria protagonists in this sport thanks also to the many talents who have passed and will pass from here – comments Simona Ferro Councilor for Sport of the Liguria Region – we cannot forget that in the last two years the few events held have often been penalized mainly by the absence of the public, the beating heart of every sporting event. Sport constitutes an important and fundamental part of our life, an all-round psycho-physical enrichment for those who practice it and for those who watch it, revealing its value that is not limited to just the athletic gesture, the beautiful volley, the great backhand and the winning ace, but above all to the joy of sharing which is sociability and inclusion.
“We are extremely happy and proud to offer the public of Valletta Cambiaso such a prestigious parterre of tennis players – explains Mauro Iguera, President of the Organizing Committee – there are players of absolute experience who have won several titles of the ATP World Tour 250 circuit and who have reached the top positions of the world rankings such as Marco Cecchinato and Pablo Andjuar. In addition, Genoa also this year confirms itself as a springboard for young talents such as Chun-Hsin Tseng and Francesco Passaro who are among the best Under 21s in the world and will be able to be protagonists in the Milan finals scheduled for November. And a spectacular tournament is announced also in the doubles with some world-class specialists. Thanks to all the sponsors who make the resumption of the event possible, reconfirming with unchanged enthusiasm the support that has allowed us to reach the 18th edition by offering a show of an ever higher level ”.
An eco-sustainable vision of sport for the Genoa Challenger: eliminated the 13,000 plastic water bottles used up to the last edition, in 2019. Thanks to the renewed collaboration with Esosport, the entire tournament staff and players will be provided with water bottles. aluminum. Only the plastic bottles will be used for the players during the matches and will be subsequently conferred in the appropriate containers for recycling. Furthermore, thanks to the Esosport balls (“Return your ace”) project, the Challenger of Genoa adheres to the collection and recycling of exhausted tennis balls, minimizing their environmental impact.
