Cuneo – From Thursday 22 to Sunday 25 September the San Paolo district will host the Palio di San Michele, a four-day sports tournament that will involve the different city areas in the form of teams and will culminate on Sunday with the San Michele polentata, followed by Occitan dances , from the finals and from the awarding of the winners. Also scheduled musical events and workshops for children and adults, all with the goal to involve the neighborhoods and the realities of the city in a single big party dedicated to sport, fun, exchange and meeting.
It is an Italian-style tournament with a free-for-all group stage and final stages. There are many sports in which participants can try their hand: 5v5 football, 3v3 basketball, 4v4 beach volleyball, broom, scala40, bowls, table football and darts.
Each participating city zone will form a team for each sport and the winners of each discipline will be awarded. Furthermore, the score obtained in the various categories will contribute to the creation of the general classification. The first three classified realities will be awarded cash prizes to finance a project designed by them.
The tournaments will begin on Thursday 22 at 20, accompanied from 21 by the tribute concert to Fabrizio De Andrè with “The color of the wind”. Friday from 7pm aperitif with mojito and dj set, tournaments start at 8pm and 9pm live music with Makepop and Fuh. Saturday will start at 3.30 pm with three appointments: the children’s workshop “A fabulous garden”, organized in collaboration with the River Park; the exhibition with meeting “Aliens like us”, always in collaboration with the River Park and for the little ones there will be a reading group in collaboration with the Library 0-18. The tournaments will start at 4 pm. At 7 pm aperitif and DJ set and at 9 pm live music with Flaminia and Anudo.
Sunday for lunch polentata di San Michele (reservations recommended at 349-6339332); from 15 Occitan dances with the duo Chiara Cesano and Roby Avena and beginning of the final phase of the tournaments. The awarding of the winners will follow.
During Saturdays and Sundays, Caritas Diocesana will collect school materials (which will be indicated on the site with a precise list). In addition, the food & beverage service will be active throughout the event.CopyAMP code.
The Palio di San Michele committee, which organizes the event, is also looking for volunteers to be involved in the organization and implementation of the event. A race pack with a t-shirt and backpack will be reserved for them, in addition to the meal included if the shift foresees it and some drinks during the opening hours of the bar.
