VUELTA | 02/09/2022 | 17:28

by Luca Galimberti

Mads Pedersen won in the sprint the Ronda – Montilla, thirteenth stage of the Vuelta Espana 2022. The rider of the Trek Segafredo, green jersey at this Vuelta Espana, put his wheel in front of those of the French Bryan Coquard (Cofidis), second classified and the German Pascal Ackermann (UAE Team Emirates). The 26-year-old Dane, world champion in 2019, thus took his seventh win of the season and strengthened his leadership in the points standings.

Pedersen was very good at launching in the wake of Ackermann, who launched a very long sprint, and in practice he won by gap, while the gap at one hundred meters got up again with the empty energy tank, finishing third.

THE CHRONICLE – The thirteenth stage of the Vuelta Espana was animated immediately after the start from Ronda, to take off were: the Dutch Julius van den Berg, 25 years old from EF Education-EasyPost; the 29 year old Spaniard of Burgos-BH Ander Okamika and the other Iberian Joan Bou, athlete of Euskaltel – Euskadi.

The three forwards led the race up to ten kilometers from the finish easily controlled by the sprinter teams, in particular by Trek Segafredo, Cofidis and Bike Exchange Jayco.

After today’s stage, the thoughts and energies of the group will go to the two difficult stages of the weekend: tomorrow we will reach Sierra de La Pandera and on Sunday we will climb Sierra Nevada. Before these fundamental stages, Remco Evenepoel is always in command of the General.
