Hats off to such a show. Benidorm is a bedlam when Van Der Poel and Van Aert pass between two wings of the crowd. The Dutchman and the Belgian ignite the Iberian round of the elite Cyclocross World Cup by offering a show of strength, courage and skill. Van Der Poel won it in the sprint on Van Aert after a breathtaking and incredible final.

Under a spring sun, with the dust rising from the bicycle tyres, the marvelous pair held the court from the first to the last meter of the race despite the blaze at the start from world champion Tom Pidcock who then surrendered to the leading tandem. Eli Iserbyt and Cup leader Laurens Sweeck also defended well, then forced to let go. The last lap VDP and Van Aert change gears and fly to battle for victory.
