It was the councilor for sport of Corigliano who handed the trophy into the hands of the brave captain Santiago Orduna.
The participation of the Vibonese team in the tournament organized by Corigliano Volley under the patronage of the municipal administration was not only an opportunity to continue to break in on the field fifteen days after the debut in the Serie A2 Championship. Tuna Callipo Volley in fact put the seal on the two days by winning the first City Trophy of the Codex and of the Castle.
The two days at the “PalaBrillia” saw the best of two sets out of three, the famous Club Olympiacos Pireaus, coached by Alberto Giuliani, the Gioiella Prisma Taranto, a militant team in the Super League, the Tuna Callipo Calabria and the Bcc Castellana Grotte formations involved in the next National A2 Championship.
In the final act against the prestigious Hellenic team, the Brazilian coach Cezar Douglas fielded the Orduna-Buchegger diagonal in the initial starting six, in the center Tondo-Maccarone, in the Fedrizzi-Mijailovic band, Cavaccini free.
In a very balanced first set it was the Greeks coached by Giuliani who made a decisive break at 16-13, moving forward and closing the partial at the photo finish (25-23).
In the second set the Giallorossi in the central phase place the first mini break with Tondo serving (16 to 13). Advantage capitalized by Vibo with the attacks of Buchegger and the defenses of Cavaccini (25-22).
In the third and decisive set, Vibo starts with more determination and extends the score up to seven in the central phase (16-9) with a series of batting by Buchegger and with two counterattacks by Mijalovic and the defenses of Cavaccini, to then manage without worries the final of the contest with a peremptory 25 to 17.
In this tournament the boys of coach Cezar Douglas have won two comeback victories on the field, trying various game solutions to try to find the right set-up in view of the first championship.
The Italian-Argentine playmaker Santiago Orduna shrewdly distributed the game calling into question the strikers Bucchegger who scored 20 points (including 4 aces, 15 attacks and 1 winning block) and Mijalovic (10). Terpin also did well, scoring 5 points, who replaced Fedrizzi in the middle of the second set and then remained on the pitch until the end of the match. The performance of the Tondo power plant and the Libero Cavaccini were also very positive.
A test played with competitive spirit by both teams that highlighted the competitive character of the Callipo Tuna still looking for the best condition and the right technical set-up in view of the first championship match.
To deliver the Trophy in the hands of Captain Santiago Orduna was the councilor for Sport of Corigliano Costantino Argentino.
The next test is scheduled for Wednesday 28 September at 17:30 at PalaMaiata against Lagonegro..
It is a duty to thank the Corigliano Volley club for their hospitality, which has worked hard in recent weeks for the excellent success of this first edition of the Tournament.CopyAMP code
