The rhythmic gymnastics coach from Brescia Stephanie Fogliata received a disqualification from the magistrate’s office of Brescia. Fogliata will not be able to train throughout the national territory. The measure is the first result of an investigation into physical and psychological abuse of some young athletes. The investigation began last September after the confidences of a mother to the mobile squad of the Brescia police station. The unlawful conduct would be against gymnasts aged between 10 and 14 years. The alleged victims were heard in videotaped protected hearings with the assistance of a psychologist from theASST of Brescia. Traces of previous messaging chats and video footage of some episodes were recovered from cell phones, sometimes made by the suspect herself. 25 witnesses heard. The judge recognized the crime of ill-treatment (aggravated by the minor age of the victims), in a para-family context such as that of a sports school in which the minors were entrusted to the instructor for education, sports but also scholastic reasons. In the semi-residential centre, the young athletes spent the whole day training and teaching, from eight in the morning until late in the evening. In view of the provision of the Brescia prosecutor’s office, the federal prosecutor’s office also announced that it will order a disqualification measure against the technique.
