Piazza Maggiore packed with thousands of people who cheered with enthusiasm for a truly breathtaking spectacle. Bologna Festival on Thursday evening lit the facade of the Basilica of San Petronio with an amazing videomapping show that allowed to see 12 of the more than 50 completion projects developed by the Renaissance in the early 1900s. An authentic spell accompanied by the music of the Senzaspine Orchestra conducted by Matteo Parmeggiani in the churchyard that performed Wagner, Rossini and Respighi. Reruns every evening until 19 September from 9 pm to 11 pm every half hour, even if the music will no longer be live. The impressive project supported by Alfasigma had been working for years by the video artist Luca Agnani. What we see today is a Basilica declared “finished” in 1666, after 276 years of construction. But it is only since 1933 that it has been decided once and for all not to talk about the completion of the façade anymore.
