It will be a Gran Piemonte open to many solutions the one that will take place on Thursday 6 October starting from Omegna and arriving in Beinasco after 198 km. This is the 106th edition of the Gazzetta / Rcs Sport race, which runs on a flat track from Omegna to Beinasco. Departure from the lake of Orta in a slight climb to go through the Cremosina to Borgosesia. The crossing of the northern Po plain begins with long flat and straight roads. After about 130 km you reach the slopes of the Collina di Superga of which you climb the “Pilonetto” side with slopes that reach double digits near Rivodora. This is the only roughness: then the traditional descent on Pino Torinese, passing in front of the Savoy hunting lodge in Stupinigi and then the final sprint to Beinasco, just outside the city.

Mission A long, very fast tribute to a land that is always very cycling. Also this year the Gran Piemonte gets on the saddle with the mission of promoting the territory and enhancing it, with a relatively easy path (we are in the final week of the season, with the Giro di Lombardia scheduled for Saturday 8 October) intended for sprinters. This time we start from Omegna, the city on the slopes of Mottarone which is the home of the household industry. But above all here was born Gianni Rodari, writer, poet and pedagogist, who in his “Filastrocca del gregario” had perfectly understood the spirit of sacrifice and effort that animates those who have chosen to make a job out of the bicycle. Nursery rhyme of the gregarious / proletarian racer / who to the champions of trade / must act as a waiter / With the salary he gets / makes the family survive and as an old man then buys / a cyclist shop. Omegna is in the province of Verbania: these are the lands of Filippo Ganna and Elisa Longo Borghini, the two champions who are marking an era in world cycling.
