Operational protocol signed at the Turin command

(ANSA) – TURIN, SEPTEMBER 19 – Mixed patrols of carabinieri and members of the French gendarmerie in the areas of Oulx and Susa: cooperation between the forces of law and order will develop in the coming weeks in the border areas between the two countries in the upper Susa Valley and, on the transalpine side, in Haute-Savoie. The operational protocol was signed today in Turin at the headquarters of the Arma provincial command.
“Checks on roads, inhabited centers, ski slopes will be carried out – explained General Claudio Lunardo, provincial commander. All with a view to prevention. It will be a service of proximity to citizens”.
The initiative has as its point of origin an agreement between the governments of Italy and France signed in Lyon in 2012. “But our two Commands – underlined Colonel Frédéric Allemand, commander of the Savoie departmental gendarmerie group – were the first to perfect this form of cooperation “. “On the occasion of my visit to Chambery – said Lunardo – I was favorably impressed by the common approach that we and the gendarmerie have with respect to the service we carry out for the citizens. There is really a great affinity”. The patrols – which will not carry out border police duties – will work under the coordination of the Modane Cooperation Center.
A similar protocol is being prepared between the provincial command of the carabinieri and the gendarmerie of Gap for the part of the territory that, in Italy, concerns the areas of Claviere and Montgenèvre. (HANDLE).
