The Lazio Region was the first in Italy to introduce a law “for the respect of wage equality between men and women”. This is said by President Nicola Zingaretti who yesterday, on the occasion of the International Day for Equal Pay for Women and Men, claimed primacy in a post published on Facebook.
“Art.37: ‘The working woman has the same rights and, for the same work, the same wages that are due to the worker’. This article of our Constitution has been disregarded for almost 75 years. The pay gap between men and women – writes Zingaretti – is a social and cultural scourge that has worsened further with the pandemic. We need a Parliament with a clear balance of power to achieve this goal ”.CopyAMP code.
The governor then recalled that the Lazio Region he led had the merit of having “introduced a law for the respect of equal pay between men and women, the first regional law in Italy, an instrument that restores dignity, which rewards companies virtuous, the enhancement of women’s skills and an equal distribution of care work “.
