One hundred and thirty families assisted in the first year of activity. The first 365 days ofsolidarity emporium of the Mercy they are marked by the commitment in favor of those who risk remaining on the margins, of those who experience the difficulty of the crisis with difficulty. At a time when poverty is biting more and more families, Mercy has put in place a useful, concrete tool, respecting the dignity of users. The idea around which the experience of “Twelve baskets “ is to create a sort of minimarket like doing a daily shopping, except that instead of banknotes, tickets are used that are issued according to the Isee model.
The idea of setting up a shop was born from the awareness that the discomfort is not only economic for these people, giving the possibility to do a real shopping helps the person in difficulty to regain their dignity. An operation born thanks to a project of the National Confederation of Mercies of Italy, with the contribution of the Ministry of Social Policies, which promoted the creation of 31 Solidarity Emporiums throughout Italyfor the fight against food poverty in our country, with particular reference to this post-pandemic period.
