The 22nd City of Udine Marathon will take place on Sunday 18 September at 9.30 am, starting and finishing in Piazza Primo Maggio. Afterwards, at 11, the non-competitive Straudine will start. The two events will affect different streets of the city that will be closed to traffic.
At 12.30, then, the Udinese-Inter football match will begin at the Friuli Stadium, which is expected to be sold out. Considering the almost concomitance between the two events, the invitation to fans is to reach the stadium’s parking lots through the ring road and arrive early, providing for traffic slowdowns.
The alternative routes to remedy the planned closures are as follows. Coming from viale Palmanova, you have to go left on via Melegnano and turn right on via Marsala-De Rubeis. At the traffic lights, cars must turn right into viale Europa Unita (passing in front of the station) and drive along piazzale d’Annunzio, viale XXIII Marzo, piazzale Oberdan from where you can also head towards Cividale, via Renati, via Caccia and right into via Bernardinis. At the traffic light, turn left into via Montegrappa then into piazza Medaglie d’Oro heading north towards the ring road, bearing in mind that piazzale Chiavris will be closed between 09.40 and 10.15 approximately.
Arriving from via Lumignacco, in piazzale Cella you can continue towards viale delle Ferriere, turn left towards via Sabbadini, arrive in viale Venezia and from there take viale Firenze, via Birago or the ring road. For those arriving from the north, the detour to Feletto Umberto and then the ring road is recommended.
People arriving from Santa Caterina have the opportunity to enter the ring road or take via Birago or viale Firenze at the limit. Those coming from Passons, absolutely must not arrive towards via Martignacco and via Lombardia, but must take the ring road.
To exit the city center and go towards the stadium, proceed on viale Hungary, cross the Santi Ermacora and Fortunato flyover and then continue along viale Palmanova or viale delle Ferriere (north carriageway), via Marangoni, via Marco Volpe (here there will be a closure for the Straudine between 11.05 and 11.15 approximately), via Micesio, piazzale Diacono, via Martignacco (east lane) and via Pasolini.CopyAMP code.
It is reiterated to avoid the city center, highlighting that via Cotonificio, via Sondrio, via Lombardia north, piazza Rizzi, via Lombardia sud and via Martignacco will also be closed for the competition.
