SICILY – “The South is strategic for Italy from a geographical, geopolitical and economic point of view. And the headquarters must be located in the South: Palermo, Naples, Cagliari, Bari or in any case one of the capitals of the eight regions of Southern Italy“.
These are the words of president of Confindustria Sicilia, Alessandro Albanesewhich continued: “Our country needs unity because Italy is like a chain, as strong as its weakest link. The principle of cohesion must find rapid application in our territories and must have an immediate impact on our production realities“.
“Cohesion it cannot be a name, it must be a fact. To go from Palermo to Reggio Calabria you have to take two planes and make a stopover in Rome. This – which is just an example – weakens the whole country system“.
“Because with these atavistic frailties, Italy retreats in the face of foreign powers. All of this – concludes Albanese – at a time when we should seek greater autonomy and solidity on energy sources, on environmental transformation, on the Mediterranean stages of international development routes“.
