Among the “barrels”, the safety cars and the final red flag, Gianmarco Quaresmini remains the certainty of race 1 of the fourth round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Italia in Vallelunga. A clear success and from pole position that of the 2018 champion, never really in question, not even after Matteo Malucelli overtook him from third place at the start but only for an excessive early start (it really cannot be defined as a “jump start”), for which the driver from Romagna was then punished with a drive through.

The second success of the season makes Quaresmini fly more and more to the top of the championship with the 911 GT3 Cup of Ombra Racing, while a perky Giorgio Amati, second with Ghinzani Arco Motorsport after starting from the front row, and Diego Bertonelli, who completed the podium after recovering from the sixth box of the start, overtaking Alberto Cerqui (Ghinzani Arco Motorsport) in the early stages, fourth at the finish line, and subsequently Giammarco Levorato, back in the top-5 with Tsunami RT and now expected in the front row at the start of race 2 tomorrow.

In pole position, thanks to today’s sixth place, on Sunday Keagan Masters will sit with the 911 GT3 Cup of the Roman team AB Racing, which plays at home and also celebrates for the first center of the season, like last year, caught in Michelin Cup by Francesco Maria Fenici on the home circuit.

And this is where the caution bill can begin. After the first safety car used on lap 2 to recover the car of Alfdo Festante, author of an off-track against the barriers, on lap 5 the second safety car was used after a contact from behind by Stefano Monaco on Leo Caglioni (later author of the fastest lap in 1’35 “230) at the Hairpin, where a traffic jam was formed and the need to recover the damaged car of an unlucky Ale Giardelli, who arrived.

As was the Michelin Cup poleman Alberto De Amicis. At that moment at the head of the category, the Guidonia driver spun to avoid the tangle of cars formed in front of him. The Ebimotors rider thus lost positions finishing only sixth in his category.

It was Phoenicians who took advantage of the situation, good at avoiding troubles and jumping to the top even surpassing Marco Cassarà, who with Raptor Engineering still earned the points and the podium of the second place precious to jump to the top of the general classification of the Michelin Cup, while the German “deb” Alexander Schwarzer (BeDriver) finished third ahead of Alex De Giacomi (Tsunami RT) and Paolo Gnemmi (Ebimotors).

After the restart, the race experienced some jolts in the middle of the group, in particular with Benny Strignano (Villorba Corse), seventh at the finish line, Enrico Fulgenzi, eighth, Andrea Fontana (Bonaldi Motorsport), Jorge Lorenzo, 12th at the finish line with Team Q8 Hi Perform but often fighting in full top-10, and Malucelli, who in the meantime recovered after the drive through imposed on him in the first laps.

Precisely in the agitated final stages, Malucelli himself and Fontana came into contact, with the first one (afternoon to be quickly forgotten for him) projected hard against the barriers (fortunately without particular consequences for the pilot).

Immediate exposure of the red flag to finish the race prematurely. At that point the ranking was updated on the previous lap and Fontana himself found himself ninth ahead of Lodovico Laurini, who completed the top-10 for Dinamic Motorsport.

In the Silver Cup, among the “991 GT3 Cup gen. II”, victory and extension for Davide Scannicchio (ZRS Motorsport), who ruled the returning Max Montagnese (Raptor Engineering) and the challenger for the title Paolo Venerosi (Ebimotors) at the finish line .

Tomorrow (Sunday) race 2 completes the exciting Roman weekend of the Italian flagship store at 12.00 live on free-to-air TV on Cielo (26 digital terrestrial) and via satellite on Sky Sport Arena (Sky 204). Live streaming in HD is also available on www.carreracupitalia.it.
