The closing event, not only of the European Cup Circuit, but of the entire 2022 Para-Archery outdoor season. A two-day event dedicated to the best four archers and four mixedteam teams who best qualified after the two stages held in Nove Mesto nad Metuji (Czech Republic) in July and at the European Championships in Rome last August.
The shooting line in Nottingham (Great Britain), already famous for the stories related to Robin Hood, thus welcomed the cheek of the discipline to celebrate the winners of the seasonal circuit, three years after the last, and first, edition of the Finals.
Italy presented itself as the nation with the most qualified, eight, in the three divisions recurvo open, compound open and W1 open. Among them also the Piedmontese Matteo Bonacina (Archers of the Alps).
The Azzurri once again confirmed the high level of preparation and performance by winning nine medals and the first place in the final medal table for nations, just ahead of the hosts with eight.
The Turin archers conquer thesilver in the compound open mixedteam competitionpaired with Maria Andrea Virgilio.
In the semifinals the blue duo won 151-149 over Poland, to be in the final against the hosts (Phoebe Paterson Pine and Jamie Harris).
In the four volleys there are few differences and so the match ends in a draw (149-149); it is therefore the playoff arrows to resolve everything. With the perfect score (20-18) Great Britain takes gold and victory.
Matteo was also involved in the race on an individual level. In the semifinal he finds the strong Belgian Piotr Van Montagu who wins 144-141. In the final for the bronze, the Slovak Marcel Pavlik (138-137) has the better, thus leaving Matteo at the foot of the podium.
