Self-determination of the people of Valle d’Aosta, complete implementation of the free zone and full ownership of the waters: these are the three essential points that the political movement Pays d’Aoste Souverain illustrated in a document presented to the candidates in the next political elections on 25 September.
The document, all written in French, was signed by Franco Manes and Patrik Vesan of the autonomists and progressives list, by the center-right coalition with Nicoletta Spelgatti and Emily Rini, and by Giovanni Gilardini. ” We had a transversal attitude, ni droite ni gauche – explains Christian Sarteur, of Pays d’Aoste Souverain during a press conference – so we studied this document with these three essential points for us. Once elected, the candidates who signed it undertake to bring these issues to Rome ”. Sarteur then explains that: ” Augusto Rolladin told us to share everything, but not to sign the document as the regional council never deals with these issues. We wonder where it has been in the last 40 years. ” Finally, the representative of the independence movement underlines the choice not to run for elections. ” In a moment of great crisis like this – he comments – it did not seem appropriate to make even more confusion in the political landscape where there is a need for clarity. We will continue to act as sentinels, but we will certainly be present at the next regional elections ”.
