There are 6 million euros available in Umbria to start young agricultural businesses. They are part of the Rural Development Program and the Region has launched the public notice. A premium of 70 thousand euros is foreseen for each young person established, who undertakes to run an organic farm, to cover the costs related to the start-up and operation of the activities. According to the Region, the objectives are to attract new generation to organic production and encourage generational turnover. The focus is on the use of ICT technologies (Information and communication technologies) and precision agriculture, as well as adopting methods of production and transformation of products that are more sustainable in environmental, economic and social terms.
In particular Furthermore, projects oriented to the production of services connected to agriculture such as: agritourism, social agriculture and educational farms may be financed. The entrepreneurial projects proposed in the application will be evaluated in order to be financed with regional criteria responding to specific strategic objectives: innovation, environment, production of energy from renewable sources, job placement of unemployed or unemployed young people. Beneficiaries of regional aid are young people aged between 18 and 41, who are setting up for the first time on a farm as a farm manager. The business can also be conducted by way of rent, as well as property or usufruct. It is possible to submit the application for support starting from 21 September next until 16 January 2023. All information will be available on the institutional website of the Umbria Region in the Bandi channel (Call PSR Measure 6.1.1.). The interventions will be financed with the EURI (European Union Recovery Instrument) Funds, a financial instrument of the European Union aimed at overcoming the economic crisis that has arisen following the Covid-19 pandemic.
