Four Sicilian formations were present at the final of the CdS Masters in Modena, an event that took place since 1990, in thirty-two editions, only twice more, in Ostia 2001 and Cesenatico 2003. All this reinforces the new imprint given to the Masters, thanks also to the President of Fidal Sicilia, Salvatore Gebbia and the contribution of the Regional Referent, Gianfranco Belluomo from Catania, himself fighting on 1500 and 4 × 400 m. The two men’s teams, Puntese San Giovanni La Punta and Lib, ranked among the top 24 Italian clubs with the best scores in the qualifying stages on the track and on the platforms. Running Modica, respectively eighteenth (1107 points) and twenty-third (1055.50 p.); the two women, Milone Siracusa and Nissolino School of Athletics Catania, thirteenth (1148 p.) and twenty-third (1058.50 p.). The Lib. Running Modica and Milone Siracusa defended themselves with ardor on their debut in this national review, the most heartfelt among the Masters.

On the podium two athletes of the Lib. Running Modica, the old glory, the Modica Giuseppe Fatuzzo (Lib. Running Modica), 50, who breaks the 1000 points twice, 2’03 “02 in the 800 m (1011), first and 53” 27 in the 400 m ( 1017), fourth, touching the 53 ”07 of his MPR. The Fatuzzo phenomenon, from 800 in 1’52 “3 dated 1993 and from bronze in 800 m to the 17th World Masters Championship in Riccione on 9 September 2007 (MPR with 1’56” 18 from SM35), reappears in 2021 and climbs still. We would never finish listing his records of 2022, therefore we limit ourselves to the new best Italian performance SM50 in the 800 of 2’01 ”57 on May 29, removed from Francesco D’Agostino after six years. For his part, the walker Giuseppe Messina, 51, with a long and prestigious career, is second in the 3000 m walk with 14’54 ”10, 944 his score of substance. The Catania player fully confirms the second position of Tivoli 2021, then 14’22 ”03 and 1015 points.

Another three podiums of respect, in second place: the eternal jumper Carmela Micieli (Milone Siracusa), 65, at 1094 with 1.26 in the top, two cm from her MPI in Grosseto on 10 June with the Italian title SF65; the splendid hammer player Irene Messina (Nissolino Scuola di Atl. Leggera Catania), never pays, with the tool at 42.58 (934 p.); the javelin player Giuseppa Parolino of Milone Siracusa (SF55), the Italian champion extends the MPR of Enna by two cm to 29.43 (876 p.), first in the seasonal lists with the best six performances, also add the weight 8.93 from his record of 8.76 always in Enna.

Among the top ten, according to the score tables, three athletes from Puntese: fourth Umberto Costa who started walking again (18’21 ”11); seventh Calogero Scordino in weight (11.67) and disc (33.54); ninth Giuseppe Di Stefano in the hammer (27.45). The legendary Clarentino, 81 years old, was unable to repeat the placings of Tivoli 2021, third in the disc and second in the hammer, forced to throw from a standstill due to his ailments. Cited the podiums, the women of Milone Siracusa, with their heads held high, were placed: seventh Giuseppina Malerba in the long (4.44) and tenth in the 200 m (29 “77); eighth Irene Penzin in the triple (9.23), again eighths Micieli, Irene Penzin, Antonella Esposito, Malerba in 4 × 100 m with the best Sicilian SF55 performance of 1’00 “42, the previous limit belonged to the identical formation with 1 ’03 ”00 in Syracuse on 6 July. From hedges to walking, the neophyte in this discipline, Francesca Grigorio of the Nissolino Scuola di Atl. Light, seventh on 3000 m in 18’00 “80 and started on 7 May from 19’21” 19.
