(ANSA) – CARAGLIO, 14 SEPTEMBER – Steve McCurry’s photographs become tesserae to form a large texture in the spaces of the former Caraglio silk factory.
On Thursday 29 September, at the Filatoio di Caraglio, in the Cuneo area, the photographic exhibition “Steve McCurry. Texture” will open to the public, which will revive the spaces of the ancient silk factory through an exhibition itinerary capable of “weaving” the textures of life, those imprinted in the 100 shots from all over the world of the famous American photographer and humanist, with the fabrics and the history of the place, a former silk factory now a “cultural factory”.
The project, curated by Biba Giacchetti with the contribution of Maddalena Terragni, is promoted and implemented by the Artea Foundation, in collaboration with the Filatoio Rosso Foundation, Civita Mostre e Musei, Sudest57 and the Antonio Ratti Foundation, with the patronage of the Municipality of Caraglio, of the Crc Foundation and the Crt Foundation and with the support of the Banca di Caraglio. The exhibition will be open until Sunday 29 January 2023, at the following times: Thursday and Friday, from 3pm to 7pm, Saturday, Sunday and holidays, from 10am to 7pm.
Marco Galateri di Genola, president of the Artea Foundation, comments: “It is a great honor and a pleasure for Artea to present a vast selection of McCurry’s shots relating to the world of textiles at the former Spinning wheel, where the memory of its glorious past as a” factory ” of silk “is still alive today more than ever.
To offer a further and precious contribution to the exhibition, there will be a selection of historical fabrics from all over the world from the Antonio Ratti collection, entrepreneur and visionary patron, to whom we owe, among other things, one of the first centers specialized in research and in the restoration of textiles at the Metropolitan Museum of New York “.
