There are a few days left before the first seasonal rendezvous with Sardinian rackets crossing at the Palatine table in Cagliari. The Marcozzi company has enthusiastically welcomed the proposal of the Sardinian Committee to organize on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 September two moments dedicated respectively to the sixth male category and then to the fifth, fourth male and female categories. The Mulinu Becciu facility will be open from 2.30 pm and 9.00 am the next day. For the hosting company another important event that is added to those of various matrix carried out throughout the summer with the apex represented by the vaunted celebrations for half a century of life.

But the president Raffaele Curcio he does not bask among his laurels and, if anything, thinks of making sense of the new activity that unfolds as always on several fronts: “We are always here to give our contribution – he underlines – and when the Committee asked us to be available for this tournament we are been ready to accept it. The hope is that there will be numerous adhesions, even if September remains the period of the “start-up”, from my point of view it remains a good opportunity to test the state of form “.

In the beautiful facility entirely dedicated to table tennis, the season has just begun: “We are trying to expand both with the youth activity that will allow us to create a D2 formation composed exclusively of little ones – continues Curcio – both involving amateurs and after having crowded the gym for pure fun, they decided to compete in the D2 equally forming two teams. But we also have the D1 as proof of how we like to crowd all the activity at 360 degrees, from the most important national championships to youth and masters activities “.

But the historic executive – doctor is ready to bet on the entire Sardinian movement that will have a lot to say this season: “I see the 5th and 6th categories as quite active – he concludes – and the same thing I can say about the companies that own nurseries . We will enroll many children in the sixth category, to start making them move. I imagine that other solid realities will do the same. We are at the beginning, and from these premises we are looking for ideas to do better and better ”.

The historic ride continues. The Champions League leaves room for a Sardinian presence that faces openly the most difficult formations. The Quattro Mori Cagliari passes to the second round of the most important continental competition by defeating the host team Leka Enea Irun GEWO (Spain) and without being able to face the Saint Denis US 93 Tennis de Table (France) which decides to desert the group B of the competition. The protagonists of the island team are the usual Romanian Tania Maria Plaian and Andreea Dragoman, to which is added the new arrival of Nigerian nationality Offiong Edem.

Three successes out of as many matches have characterized the umpteenth European adventure of Tennistavolo Norbello. Engaged in Bratislava with the ETTU Europe Cup Women, the Guilcerine team overtook the tough members of the transalpine club TT Joué les Tours after five matches; with less worries of mind they resolved in their favor the challenges with TT Malonne (Belgium) and SKST Bratislava (Slovakia). The Polish Magdalena Sikorska is in great shape with four victories out of as many games played. Even the two newcomers do not betray the expectations: the Romanian Alina Georgiana Zaharia and Veronica Mosconi.

Less fortunate the Muravera TT that in the same competition is forced to “relegate” to the Europe Trophy. In Linz (Austria) it all started in the best way with the 3-2 against KTTC AFP Antwerpen (Belgium). Then followed the first stop with the premises of the LZ Linz Froschberg. Finally, he does not administer a 2-0 lead over Entente Saint Pierraise TT (France). In practice, the Sarrabese team, made up of the Chinese Shuonan Men e

from the Cuban Idalys Lovet Valdes, he can never count on the contribution of the Ligurian Valentina Roncallo, victim of an injury.

Among the podiums of the national youth qualifying tournament for the WTT Youth Contender Lignano, held in Terni, there are also the footprints of Sardinian origin.

Although she is Sicilian, Nicoletta Criscione gives prestige to her new club, the Muravera TT, by winning the women’s singles reserved for the 2033-2004 category, beating the very favorite Celeste Leogrande (Tennistavolo Ennio Cristofaro) in the final. The young protagonist also takes bronze in the 2005-2006 sector.

But the performance offered by the Sassari doc Laura Alba Pinna is proud, who in the course of the challenge of competence of the 2009-2010 expels the seeded n. 1 Marina Misceo in the semifinal and then surrender to Alice Galli of Tennistavolo Vallecamonica.

The beautiful performances of Criscione and Pinna (Tennistavolo Sassari) open their doors to the international tournament scheduled at the Bella Italia Village in Lignano Sabbiadoro (UD) from 30 October to 5 November 2022.

During the weekend also dedicated to Open tournaments, the Bulgarian Petar Vassilev wearing the Santa Tecla Nulvi jersey is highlighted in Montichiari. For him a well-wishing third place.

Until Sunday Cluj Napoca (Romania) hosts the sixth edition of the Under 21 European Championships. Among the squad who will wear the Italian national team there are also Sardinian athletes such as Carlo Rossi (Marcozzi Cagliari), Johnny Oyebode (Tennistavolo Sassari) and then Valentina Roncallo, registered with the Muravera TT.

Competitions are planned for both single and double. Rossi and Oyebode will form a couple in the men’s. The Quartese tennis player will play the mixed doubles with Nicole Arlia, while the Asseminese will share the experience with Gaia Monfardini.

In recent days, Muravera TT athlete Francesca Seu wore the blue jersey during the WTT Youth Star Contender Skopje (Macedonia). In the mixed doubles, with team mate Giacomo Izzo they went up to the quarter-finals.

In the singles she passed the first group stage thanks to the success against the English Sienna Vishal Jetha, but in the round of 16, crossing the future winner and strong Chinese promise Yan Yutong, she had to resign herself to bad luck.
