The formation of ophiolites in the Sienese area and their development in the geological eras. This is the new theme addressed by “Geosites and nature in Tuscany”, formed by the collaboration between the Geologists Foundation of Tuscany, the Order of Geologists of Tuscany and Stefano Farinelli, geologist and popularizer of environmental issues.

The new series includes four episodes that start along the path near the Murlo mines to reach the narrow bank of the Crevole stream. In this way it is possible to discover the geological structure and the colors of the territory, ranging from red to green to gray, sedimentary rocks and lava from submarine volcanoes which have been solidified for millions of years. “Geosites and Nature in Tuscany”, moreover, in these episodes sees the popularizer Stefano Farinelli in “Spasso con il Prof”, a series created in collaboration with university professors.

All this is made possible thanks to the contribution of Enrico Tavarnelli, professor at the University of Siena, with whom the dissemination of the format started in accordance with the Order of Geologists of Tuscany.
