In the Saturday race, starting at 7:30 am (amateurs will dive from 7:38 am), the athlete to beat will be Julie Derron from Switzerland, which scares despite the test of Cervia, for her, represents the debut on the queen distance. She says she feels in shape after her fruitful summer training on the high ground in St. Moritz: «This will be my debut in Ironman, so the first goal will be to overcome the distance and gain experience in this type of competition. So far my performance over the short distance this season has been constant, with good sensations even on average. After this weekend, I will concentrate mainly on the Olympic triathlons and I will try to qualify for the Paris Games of 2024 ». The time to be lowered would be that of the German Carolin Lehrieder, who in 2019 signed an 8:48:23, faster than that of the winners of the previous editions: her compatriot Daniela Saemmler, at the finish line in 2018 in 9:05:49, and the British Lucy Gossage, winner of the inaugural edition of 2017 in 9:06:39. TO give Derron a hard time, first of all they will probably be another Swiss, Joanna Ryter, with the British Chantal Sainterboth third place respectively at Ironman Texas and Ironman Cork this year, but we must not let our guard down even against the Germans Kristin Liepold and Katharina Grohmann.
