Anyone who didn’t do well over the weekend in Monza is certainly Nicholas Latifi. In fact, the Canadian Williams driver took them right from his teammate and Formula 1 rookie, Nyck de Vries. The Dutchman was thrown into a car in a hurry just before the PL3 for the appendicitis diagnosed in Albon, urgently operated a few hours later. The Canadian, who started tenth in the race thanks to the penalties of others, two positions behind de Vries, who even qualified in Q2 could not stand up to the comparison with his teammate. According to his words, several events have played to his disadvantage, but by now it seems clear that his future in Formula 1 is far from safe, suitcase permitting.
“Already at the start my race was compromised – Latifi said. I was stuck in the middle of some cars and I tried to avoid damage: among other things, many crossed the first chicane without receiving any penalties. The pit stop was slow and I couldn’t play anything. The goal was to keep the starting position to have a fighting chance, but that didn’t happen. We were fast on the straight but I had a hard time being fast on the corners as well. We hope to do better in Singapore ”.
