Fifty-six works will be in competition at the 17th edition of the Sardinia Film Festival, the international film event dedicated to animation and cartoons, scheduled in Alghero from 27 September to 2 October, at the Cloister of San Francesco. Among the short films competing for the award, chaired by producer and director Cristian Jezdic and organized by Cineclub Sassari, there are seventeen first works and sixteen works from international animation film schools.

Twenty-two countries in the world present with their own production houses, among which the largest representation is that of France, which will bring thirteen works in competition, followed by Italy with eight productions and Germany with four. There are three co-productions in competition: one Franco-Belgian, one Franco-Japanese and the other between Slovenia, Germany and France.

All the projection works will be absolute premieres for Sardinia, made in English, Italian, as well as in the languages ​​of the island (Sardinian in each variant, Tabarchino, Catalan) or, if in other languages, subtitled in Italian or English. The novelty this year is the presence of a special section dedicated to animated feature films, with four works in the running.
