Fifth position for George Russell at the end of the first day of free practice of the Dutch Grand Prix, in progress on the Zandvoort track, at Max Verstappen’s home. The Mercedes driver had a good Friday, also considering the fastest time set in the morning, and the feeling is that the W13 is doing quite well on the historic Dutch track, revisited in recent years to adapt to the times and modern cars.
F1 | Free practice analysis in the Netherlands: Ferrari raises its head, Verstappen is always there
“The machine is working better – Russell confirms. Tomorrow we will all be very close, we also see McLaren and Aston Martin up there. We know that qualifying is our weak point and that we are doing better in the race, and our pace looks pretty good, but we need to start from the right position. It was difficult to see the pace of the others given the problems with Formula 1, so we don’t even know how we are compared to them, but we know we are relatively competitive. We haven’t been that competitive on Friday for a while, so that’s something promising for tomorrow. The DRS in the last corner is quite interesting, and the grip you get there and in turn 3 is incredible, it’s a fantastic feeling ”.
