“Green light to the reshaping of the 2022/2023 hunting calendar which has modified the venable periods for those species for which the national legislation provides for it. We are inaugurating a new direction inspired by common sense and scientific rigor ”. This was announced by the Councilor for Agriculture of the Campania Region, Nicola Caputo, after the approval of the resolution to modify the hunting calendar by the Campania Regional Council. The new reformulation of the calendar, reads a note, “also in consideration of the current meteorological trend, provides for the opening of the hunt on 18 September for the species Alzavola, Gadwall, Codone, Coot, Porciglione, Mallard, Gallinella d ‘ water, Marzaiola, Wigeon, Shoveler, Snipe and Frullino and at 21 September 2022 for the Pheasant and Quail species, departing from the ISPRA opinion for the following reasons: “The opening date of the hunting season on the third Sunday of September (18 September 2022) , it is in fact compatible with the period of end of reproduction and dependence of the offspring, as defined by the document “Key Concepts”, for all the species of avifauna to be collected. With reference to the Quail and Pheasant species, for which, September 18 is formally the third to last day of the final decade of the breeding period, Campania has chosen the opening on September 21, thus eliminating, for these species, any overlap between the reproductive period and the hunting period “. “The goal, shared with the president Vincenzo De Luca, was to find fair solutions for all stakeholders. The wildlife-hunting sector – concludes the commissioner Caputo – is of vital importance for Campania and directly involves the environment, the most important heritage we have. The new direction must be inspired only by the technical-scientific rigor, which allows us to have a hunting collection compatible with the current regulations and sustainable with the most advanced European and Italian environmental provisions also through greater interaction with the Wildlife Hunting Observatory. regional”.
