Geasar for Olbia And Sogeaal for Alghero they disseminated passenger traffic data in the two airports in northern Sardinia. The numbers tell a massive increase in both airports compared to 2019 (pre-pandemic) as regards the national movement, while in Olbia the traffic generated by international routes shows a negative sign even if in strong growth compared to 2021.
Approximately 901,500 passengers passed through the airports of Alghero and Olbia in the month of August, an increase of 8% (+68,800 passengers) compared to the same period of 2019 (pre-pandemic reference year). The increase was determined by the excellent performance of the domestic segment, which recorded 560,000 passengers, + 34% compared to August 2019.
The data relating to the international segment was satisfactory, with 341,500 passengers passing through, with a recovery of over 80% of pre-pandemic traffic.
From January 1st to August 31st, 3,362,550 passengers traveled to the ports of northern Sardinia, with an important increase of approximately 170,000 passengers (+ 5%) compared to the first 8 months of 2019.
This result was determined by the increase in the offer and the expansion of the network of the Summer 2022, which took off on 27 March with 5,400,000 seats offered, 77 destinations from / to 20 European countries, operated by over 40 airlines.
OLBIA. Best August in its history for the Olbia airport, with over 676,000 passengers in transit (+ 9% compared to 2019) and a total of 4,900 flights managed. Passengers who traveled on domestic routes were over 414,000, with an increase of + 46% compared to 2019, while those generated by international routes were about 263,000, -22% compared to 2019 and + 38% compared to 2021.
OLBIA FIRST 8 MONTHS. In the first 8 months of the year a total of 2,319,716 passengers passed through, equivalent to + 4% compared to 2019 and + 59% compared to 2021. ALGHERO. In August 225,000 passengers passed through the Alghero airportan increase of + 6% (+13,300 passengers) compared to the same period of 2019. Excellent performances were recorded on the domestic market (146,024 total passengers), an increase of + 9% compared to the same month of 2019, while on the international market, with 78,976 passengers, growth of + 1% is recorded.CopyAMP code
ALGHERO FIRST 8 MONTHS. A further important milestone was reached in the first 8 months of 2022. In fact, from January 1st to August 31st, 1,042,836 passengers passed through, of which 739,448 national and 303,388 international, recording an important increase of + 7.4% compared to to 2019, corresponding to a significant increase of + 103% compared to 2021.
This result, higher than the national average, places Alghero airport among the “top performer” Italian airports in terms of traffic recovery.
It should also be noted that On 19 August 2022, 9,765 passengers passed throughthe historical record of daily passenger traffic, which stood since August 2015.
