Falling prices of industrial raw materials: what are the causes

The Centro Studi Promotor (Csp) enthusiastically welcomed the August data “after thirteen consecutive monthly drops”. However, he also underlines that “the market is still in deep crisis. The positive result must be grasped, but it does not significantly change the scenario that remains characterized by a crisis both in demand, due to the effects of the pandemic and the war, and in the difficulties of supply to car manufacturers of essential components (microchips, cables) “. According to Gian Primo Quagliano, president of the Center, “the prognosis for the Italian car market remains ‘confidential’. Recovery is not yet in sight and a new threat looms. the discounts granted by the dealers almost disappear and there is the possibility of significant increases in the car price lists linked to the impact of the energy crisis on production costs “.
