Italy closes Pool I with full points

Even today was a match that saw Italy as the absolute protagonist who never left room for the opponents and always led the race.

Tomorrow the calendar of the continental review includes a day of rest. The azzurrine, who finished Pool I in first place, will return to the field on Saturday 3 September to challenge the Netherlands in the semifinals that this afternoon, in the direct clash for the top of the Pool II standings, was overcome 3-0 (25 -22, 25-17, 25-19) from Serbia. The Dutch then finished in second place and the Serbs conquered the top of the standings of their group.

For this fifth and final match of the first phase of the continental review, the coach Marco Mencarelli made some changes to the initial sextet and brought the sextet onto the field with the diagonal Passaro-Ituma, the spikers Esposito and Viscioni, the Atamah and Munarini power plants and the free Bardaro.

Greece coach Anestis Giannakopoulos relied on the starting six with Allagianni, Korre, Zafeiriou, Gravari, Tani, Angelopoulou and the free Papadopoulou.

It is Italy to interrupt the initial study phase (4-4) and take the lead (5-8). Once the overtaking has been made, the Italians lengthen (6-10), push on +7 (7-14) and keep Greece at a distance (12-20). The finish is still all of the Italian brand: the azzurrine proceed without decreases in performance and conquer the first set 16-25.

Upon returning to the field, Italy again dictates the pace (2-5) and imposes its own game (4-10). Greece is unable to find countermeasures to the action of the blue who increase their advantage (6-14) and continue to grind good play and points (13-20). The inertia does not change and Italy also wins the second set (18-25).

The third fraction does not differ from the previous ones: the azzurrine immediately take the lead (2-6), keep Greece at a distance (6-12) and proceed with determination (12-18) until the conquest of the set (19-25).
