PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – In the week from 22 to 28 August there was a decrease in new cases with an incidence of 10,747 (-7%) and a cumulative value of 224 / 100,000 inhabitants. The rate of new positives higher than the regional average was recorded in the provinces of Messina (339 / 100,000 inhabitants), Syracuse (248 / 100,000), Trapani (247 / 100,000) and Agrigento (232 / 100,000). The age groups most at risk are those between 70 and 79 years (297 / 100,000 inhabitants) and between 60 and 69 years (277 / 100,000). New hospitalizations are also slightly down. This is what emerges from the weekly Dasoe bulletin sent by the Sicilian Region, regarding the Covid epidemic on the regional territory.
As for the vaccination campaign, the data refer to the week from 24 to 30 August. In the target age 5-11, the vaccinated with at least one dose amounted to 26.33%. 69,812 children completed the primary cycle, equal to 22.75%. Over 12 years vaccinated with at least one dose amounted to 90.72%, while the percentage of those who completed the primary cycle was 89.40%. The vaccinated with additional dose / booster (third dose) are 2,760,768 equal to 72.29% of those entitled.
From 1 March, the administration of the booster booster dose (fourth dose) began in subjects over 12 with marked impairment of the immune response and who have already completed the primary vaccination course with three doses of at least 120 days. From 13 July, the fourth dose vaccination was extended to over 60 years and to people with high frailty over 12, provided that a minimum interval of at least 120 days has elapsed from the first booster dose or from the last infection following the booster (date of positive diagnostic test). Since March 1st, a total of 100,925 fourth dose administrations have been carried out, of which 46,939 to subjects over 80.
