A third of Italians say they have drastically or totally reduced the use of cars thanks to micromobility services and electric scooters
The survey carried out by a well-known company from electric scooter rental born in Sweden and now present in many European cities, it publishes the data of a survey in Italy. 37% of users have radically changed their daily habits after trying to rent electric scooters.
IN ITALY 1 OUT OF 5 USERS USES THE ELECTRIC SCOOTER EXCLUSIVELY
The survey was carried out by e-mail to a sample of You users in July 2022 by collecting 9,898 responses in 11 countries where electric scooter rental is available. The survey included approximately 25 questions. The key data that emerged concern:
– beyond 55% of users You, combines scooter rides with public transport (+ 47% compared to 2021), demonstrating – according to the company – that micromobility in sharing is complementary to public transport and not in competition with it;
– the 20% of users in Italy (and 25% in Europe) move exclusively by scooterconfirming how micromobility is helping to solve the challenge of city traffic in European cities.
ABOUT 50% OF SCOOTER USERS ARE OVER 45 YEARS OLD
THE electric scooters they are used throughout Europe by users of any age: the phenomenon is there for all to see. According to the survey, nearly half of the respondents with an age of over 45 years declares to have significantly reduced the use of the car since using a rental electric scooter (1 out of 3 in Italy). The survey also shows the tendency to reduce the use of cars in favor of scooters, even for the inhabitants of the city suburbs:
– more than 60% of those who live to 30 minutes of means from the centre city has reduced car use thanks to micromobility services;.
– on average, 14% of Voi trips replace a car trip with a scooter trip;CopyAMP code
POLLUTION AND TRAFFIC DECREASE, BUT ATTENTION TO SAFETY
This change – according to the company – is helping to reduce traffic congestion and the production of CO2 and PM2.5helping to create real cities made to be lived. “Reducing the level of traffic congestion and improving air quality are needs that can no longer be postponed”he declares Magdalena KrenekGeneral Manager of Voi. “The results of our research show that more and more people, of all ages, are relying on electric micro-mobility in sharing and, in particular, on Voi Technology scooters.
