Marco Melandri has changed home, city and life. He now lives in Lugano, every now and then he still participates in the side events of the MotoGP. He has fun but avoids finding himself in uncomfortable situations: media hype yes but not too much.
“I will not be in Misano – says Marco Melandri – I’ve been to see the MotoGP in Barcelona but I avoid the races in Italy if I can. For the Italians they are like the other riders and I preferred to go to Spain because I enjoyed the environment, the paddock and friends more ”.
In recent years we have often seen you on TV: from Hyenas to the Island of the Famous. What are you planning?
“I like to stay in the environment for a while but not too much, I want to have time for myself. Now I live in Lugano. Swiss TV does nice things for motorcycles, they are very popular and I’d like to help them organize extra content like we did with Danz. It might be nice but it’s my idea and I haven’t talked to anyone yet. For the rest I go by bike and have fun ”.
Your opinion on MotoGP 2022?
“I expected Bagnaia to be fighting for the World Cup. Enea started very strong then, racing for a satellite team, in my opinion they clipped his wings because he couldn’t keep going so fast. I was expecting such a thing. Now it is right that they have taken him into the official team and next year we will see what he is made of ”.
How do you see the San Marino Grand Prix in Bagnaia?.
“Pecco can seriously return to contention for the title especially at Misano which is a stop and go track, complicated for Quartararo. Then there will be eight Ducati that are difficult to pass and all intent on safeguarding Bagnaia ”.CopyAMP code
