Free Practice 1
9:40 – Alex Rins has been declared suitable, but with reservations: the Suzuki rider will undergo new tests on his wrist after FP1.
9:35 – Looking at the MotoGP era, we count seven Honda triumphs and 11 for Yamaha. Curiously, still in the current premier class, the only Italian capable of winning on this legendary circuit was Valentino Rossi …
9:30 – Ducati won only once at TT Circuit Assen: it was 2008, then reigning champion Casey Stoner took care of it. Is it time to break the fast?
9:25 – “Better dry with such a circuit, you have more fun!” This was Quartararo’s hope, but the Dutch GP starts in the rain.
Premise
“It’s impressive how he is handling the weight and pressure of being world champion.” Johann Zarco’s words at the press conference clearly convey what Fabio Quartararo is doing this year. The 2021 MotoGP world champion, having left behind too many complaints, as he himself defined them, has once again become the man to beat. He stops in Assen with the aim of repeating last year’s triumph, thus closing a really solid first part of the season. The same can be said of Aleix Espargaró and Johann Zarco, the first rivals in the general classification, while Pecco Bagnaia seeks redemption after a new and unexpected zero. But many will try, for a new GP not to be missed.
