The Cvtà Street Fest, the largest Italian street art festival returns to Civitacampomarano. The program of events

From yesterday from Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 June for the seventh consecutive year, again with the artistic direction of Alice Pasquini and seven international artists as well as a program of free events including music, art and cinema screenings at the Angevin Castle.

The splendid Molise village is in turmoil for a party in which the streets of the village will be filled with music and lights. Streets and squares change face, creating a bridge of beauty between past and future, thanks also to the involvement and participation of the whole community and to the synergistic commitment of the technical and artistic staff of the Festival professionals, the CivitArt Cultural Association and the ProLoco ” Vincenzo Cuoco “.
Yesterday at 6.30 pm the moment of the opening ceremony with the presentation of this year’s artists: Cinta Vidal, Daku and Icy and Sot, Akut, Ememem and Keya Tama.

Coming from different areas of the international street art scene, the artists will work with a view to respecting the “spirit of the places” and their identity and with the involvement of the community, restoring a powerful image on the town’s walls and streets. topicality: from hospitality to migrations, from respect for diversity to tolerance, with that immediacy, freshness and liveliness that only the language of street art can convey.

The first evening ended with the screening in collaboration with the Cineteca di Bologna of the film Omelia Contadina, 2020, by the French artist Jr and Alice Rohrwacher.

After the usual Tour of the walls at 10.30, today Friday 24 June the Fetival will open in the name of the Molise gastronomic tradition with the culinary workshop dedicated to the preparation of the typical “Cielli” di Civitacampomarano, sweets of the town based on cooked must, followed by 13 from a tasting.

In the evening we move to the Angevin Castle for the screening at 9.00 pm of the film Lazzaro Felice, 2018, by Alice Rohrwacher, to close with music with a final DJ set.

Saturday 25th June the good morning arrives with the ecological walk to explore the woods of the Civitese surroundings, the naturalistic beauties of the area and admire the village from afar. The day continues with the tour of the walls and with tastings of local street food: you will be able to taste the specialties of the typical cuisine of Civita prepared by the locals and distributed in predefined points, creating a gastronomic itinerary within the cultural itinerary foreseen by the festival .

In terms of screenings, scheduled at 9:00 pm Legare Connect by Tonino Casula. The film is the only testimony of the 1981 collective performance of the famous Sardinian artist Maria Lai entitled “Bind to the mountain”: a relational work of art that involved the entire town of Ulassai in 1981, remaining in the history of art contemporary as a model of public and participatory art that also inspired the model of the Cvtà Street Fest.

This is followed by another film to which the festival is very linked: Cvtà Street Fest 2020, by Matteo Talone which tells the 2020 edition of the event when the pandemic prevented the artists from traveling and physically participating in the Fest. The population of Civita, however, decided not to give up and undertook to create the works following the instructions of the artists, thanks to a series of virtual meetings on Zoom.

It ends in music with the notes of the live set hardware in sync by Anywave dj of the Molise-Roman duo of acid ambient composers.

On Sunday, June 26, the bill restarts with all its offers, including ecological walk, tour of the walls, the workshop dedicated to the “cavatelli Molisani” and tastings. Starting from 5.30 pm the Bike Stage arrives in the village, the pedaling and itinerant jazz mini-orchestra that will animate the village with music.

Appointment at 18.30 in Piazza del Municipio for the “passatella”, the typical tavern game that has its origins in ancient Rome (Cato and Horace speak of it) and became part of the Roman tradition in the Rome of the Popes. The aim of the game is not to make a participant drink wine or other light alcoholic beverages in order to discredit or humiliate him. In Civitacampomarano it is still in vogue as a pastime for the afternoons and evenings at the bar.

It closes with a closing ceremony which, as usual, summarizes the edition that has just ended, renewing the appointment for next year.

Legal to connect. Un filo di Maria Lai, 1981, by Tonino Casula (16 ‘).

In collaboration with the Spazio Illisso in Nuoro.

Documentary of the collective performance of the relational work of art Legarsi alla Montagna, held in Ulassai, in the Nuoro area, in 1981. The mayor of Ulassai, around 1979-1980, entrusted the artist with the task of creating a monument, and Maria Lai chooses not to perform a traditional opera. The idea is to tie all the houses together with a ribbon, inspired by a local legend, and anchor it to the mountain above, as a symbol of a relationship between men and a relationship with nature, with one’s roots and own land, with a mountain that refers to a larger dimension of man.
