The forest, a topical inspector, mysteries, investigations and a subtle game between the values of life and death are the protagonists of the RAI-TV series in three evenings based on the thriller novel of the same name. from Ilaria TutiFlowers over Hell“, directed by Carlo Carlei and produced by Publispei and Rai Fiction with the support of Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Commission – PromoTurismoFVG, Municipality of Chiusaforte, Municipality of Malborghetto-Valbruna, Municipality of Tarvisio, Municipality of Udine, the FEC – Fund for cult buildings, the Forestry Corps Fvg, the Alpine Rescue of Cave del Predil, the volunteer firefighters of Malborghetto-Valbruna and the mountain community of Val Canale and Canal del Ferro and the State Police.

The film written by Donatella Diamanti, Mario Cristani, Valerio D’Annunzio and Carlo Carlei sees as the protagonist Elena Sofia Ricci in the role of Teresa Battaglia, commissioner of Udine and profiler expert, assigned to the case of Travenì where a murderer risks destabilizing the ostentatious and fictitious quiet of the local community.

Among the woods and overhanging rocky walls, down in the ravine that leads to the stream, among the pools of emerald water that smells of ice, something is hidden“.

These are the first lines of the novel by the award-winning Gemonese writer Ilaria Tuti who sets the thriller in the Alps of the Tarvisio area between Malborghetto-Valbruna and the enchanted Val Saisera and between Camporosso, Tarvisio, Sella Nevea and Val Canale. The city of Udine, on the other hand, is the setting for the personal life of Teresa Battaglia and Massimo Marini, a young inspector alongside the commissioner in this apparently impossible investigation.

Travenì is a small paradise in the mountains where there are a series of inexplicable crimes on which the protagonist is called to investigate, a strong and at the same time fragile woman, endowed with an out of the ordinary sarcasm and sensitivity. At her side, her assistant Parisi and the young inspector Massimo Marini who immediately becomes the target of Teresa’s rough affection, who suffers from a disease she does not want to give a name to, capable of taking away her wit and the memory. These skills are necessary to identify with the killer, understand him, empathize and, in the end, anticipate his moves to save lives. The only ones Teresa Battaglia can count on are the children of Travenì because they are still immature and therefore different from the closed adult community in an attempt to hide the ghosts of the past and the shadows of the present.

Friuli Venezia Giulia, thanks to the work of the FVG Film Commission, the workers, the meticulous location scouting activity and the places that are a Source of inspiration for writers and directors, is confirmed as a very popular destination for film and television crews to whom a movement follows
growing number of cine-tourists, curious to discover the glimpses of the most famous sets live.

A troupe of 79 professionals including 22 regional workers present in the area from 28 March to 7 May for a total of 41 days: these are some of the return figures of the series that will be broadcast on Rai 1 between January and February 2023.

“I thank Ilaria Tuti for her collaborative attitude, her discretion does her honor. We shot in the places described in the novel, we chased the snow and the souls told respecting their spirit. From the director’s point of view, I love this region. I have rarely seen a place where there is everything and the best of everything. It is very visually and creatively stimulating, ”said director Carlo Carlei.

“It was a wonderful experience, I loved Teresa Battaglia and in my soul I found my mother and many women who are afraid of losing control of situations. Teresa is a caustic, rough but ironic woman. I interpreted it with enormous satisfaction. Then, I fell in love with Friuli
Venezia Giulia, were memorable days. I can’t wait to go back, ”said actress Elena Sofia Ricci.

“I was afraid of juggling between the real and narrative level by describing characters that, although invented, are inspired by people I met and places from my childhood, but the feedback from the territory and its people was really positive,” added Ilaria Tuti.

“A place that has these popular traditions, this depth of land, already passionately returned by the book, could only excite me. I fought for the television rights to this novel. The series will be broadcast by Rai 1, between February and March 2023 ”, the producer anticipated Verdiana Bixio.
