Two months of daily appointments, focused for those who stay in the city and for those returning from holidays: let’s talk about the Secret Garden of piazza I Maggio, set in the UdinEstate 2022 billboard (under the sign of the Municipality of Udine and Cec). And let’s talk about the special events that, in the midst of so much (a lot!) Open-air cinema, will also bring the beauty of live music among the trees and roses of the Loris Fortuna Garden. A different film every night and, in fact, a series of special events that will have fun playing with all the nuances of the word “live”.
Here are the first dates to mark on the calendar: Friday 1 July, when the Udinese singer-songwriter Piero Sidoti will be the protagonist of the Amore recital [Fino a prova contraria]Saturday 9 July, when the acclaimed West Coast Chamber Jazz Trio (Ellen Burr, flutes, Jeff Schwartz, bass, Noboru Jones, percussion) will perform, and Thursday 14 July, when Anne Wiemann (sax and flute) and Ulrich Kodjo Wendt ( harmonica and cymbal) will accompany the screening of Vesnoi – A primavera (in collaboration with the Days of Silent Cinema).
After Genteinattesa and La La La, Piero Sidoti returns with a new album and with the theater-song show of which the new album is the musical treasure chest: Amore [Fino a prova contraria]. A precious tale for voice and guitar where “imperfect, wrong and splendid love stories are told, but above all human love stories”. An adult fairy tale seen from the perspective of two children: Sasso and Corda. Because if emotions and feelings, as well as the world, need to regain purity and truth, only children can save us …
The highly anticipated performance of the West Coast Chamber Jazz Trio is quite different: a Californian ensemble that is truly out of the box, constantly looking for territories to explore and seductive and mysterious atmospheres to build, whose design philosophy is well summed up by the words of the leader (and mythical percussionist) Noboru Jones: “The West Coast Chamber Jazz Trio attempts to fill a void in the palette of contemporary jazz keeping in mind the lessons of the old masters, but also the new boundaries of improvised music”. In short: from the States to Udine, all the daring and unsettling power of creativity.
It will then be up to Ulrich Kodjo Wendt and Anne Wiemann to underline, with their own sound lines, the sequences of a rarity such as Vesnoi – In Spring: the masterpiece of the Soviet director Mikhail Kaufman (younger brother of Dziga Vertov), shot in 1929, considered “specular” to The Man with the Camera and long believed lost. The memorable description of the thaw in the heart of Kiev and in the surrounding countryside, between urban and industrial landscapes, rain and snow, ice and wind …
All special events will start at 9.30pm. In case of bad weather, they will be held at 9.45pm at the Visionario.
