On the subject of drought, he intervenes to take stock of the situation Romagna Acque – Società delle Fonti. As the Councilor for the Environment of the Municipality of Rimini Anna Montini had already pointed out in an interview with RiminiToday, the most critical aspect concerns the use of the resource for agricultural irrigation; on the other hand, it was emphasized that the situation, although complex, is currently not at a level such as to question the supply of drinking water. In this regard, Romagna Acque confirms that even in the three Romagna provinces the situation of the drinking water resource is not critical, although there are areas that could experience suffering in the future.

The situation of Ridracoli

The Ridracoli dam recorded a level of 28 million 200 thousand cubic meters of water as of 20 June (out of a possible maximum of 33 million). A lower level than in 2022 (as of 20 June it was 30 million 400 thousand), but much higher than in the most recent critical years: in 2017 it was 25 million 100 thousand, in 2007 even 21 million 875 thousand. The minimum withdrawal threshold (expected to be around 5 million) is therefore still very far away, e leaves you quite calm even with respect to the drinking water requests of the Riviera during the summerwhich on average account for about 15-18 million in the period between June and September.

The Rimini

To further contribute to the Rimini part of the coast there is also the Conca Dam, which today is almost at the top (1 million 208 thousand cubic meters out of a total of 1 million 303 thousand): the withdrawal and purification plant is about to go into production to help meet summer demands. As is known, the drinking water resource for the Rimini area comes in part from local sources, located on the territory itself, and in part from the structure of the Romagna Aqueduct (the network that distributes the water coming from Ridracoli), with a variable proportion in depending on the availability of surface water conveyed by the Adr and which on average annually is around 60% of local sources and 40% of Adr.

During the year, the contribution from the AdR in winter is on average prevalent to satisfy water demand, while in summer local sources predominate, consisting mostly of well fields of Marecchia conoid water tables (the most productive) and Conca and, to a lesser extent, from the sub-river catchments and the reservoir on the Conca river in the Municipality of San Giovanni in Marignano. At the present time, the territory requires an average flow rate per day of 1440 liters / second which are supplied for 62% by local sources and 38% by AdR, as is the case on average at this time of the year.

As regards the state of local sources, on the Marecchia conoid the groundwater level measured in Sarzana di Rimini, in the apical and representative area of the fan, is a couple of meters lower than the average of recent years and 6 meters higher than in June. 2007, the year of severe water crisis. For the cone Conca and minor streams, the thickness and power of the individual aquifers are much more heterogeneous and at the moment the levels of almost all the wells are still a few meters above the minimum, while in June 2007 almost all the wells were already at a standstill. minimum reached.
