A perturbation of North Atlantic origin, arriving today on the northern Italian regions, will bring in the next few days severe weather conditions about the country. The intense disturbance will be preceded and accompanied by a marked reinforcement of ventilation from the western quadrants which will progressively affect the entire central-south and part of the north.

Based on the available forecasts, the Department of Civil Protection in agreement with the regions involved – which are responsible for activating the civil protection systems in the territories concerned – ha issued a severe weather warning. This foresees from the early hours of tomorrow, Monday 16 January, strong to gale force winds from the western quadrants on Liguria, Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany, in extension to Marche, Umbria, Lazio, Abruzzo, Molise and Puglia, with reinforcements up to strong storms along the Apennine ridges and locally on the coastal ones, with associated with heavy storms along exposed coasts.

Furthermore, on the basis of the forecast weather phenomena, it was evaluated for tomorrow, Monday 16 January, yellow alert on some sectors of Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany, Umbria, Abruzzo, Molise, Basilicata e Calabria.
